Fear

Who are you who has no fear?  I think artists and thinkers are the greatest beings plagued by fear.  There are different types of people.  There are those that numb their fear, those who are strangled by it, and those who are very lucky to overcome their fear, if momentarily, to create something meaningful.  It’s a scary thing to admit that you make the choice which type of person you are.

When faced with mortality, you have to wonder if you really put in the effort to be all that you could be.  What drives you?  Are you full of pipe dreams and imaginations, or are you rich with talent and inspiration that can encourage those that share your belief that we all have something to give the universe before we die?  I like to imagine I have something to give, but when I compare myself with those who have enriched the world with their creative treasures, I suddenly am only a fraud.  My fear grips me by the throat.  If I am so bold to resist, the tightening begins and the air and all hope slowly is choked from my breath of inspiration.  So, where do we go from here?  Submit to being quenched by our fear or rise up and fight?  Fear stands no chance when we face it head on.

I can’t begin to share all that contributes to our fears.  Each of us has a pretty colorful array of reasons for not accomplishing much in this life.  We like to make a stand and say, “That’s enough!  I can do this!”, but then our efforts pan out to “loser” status.  How many times can we lose before we believe the verdict?  Is there really a final verdict outside of our own determination?

Begin again.  Fear is not powerful.  Fear is a subtle enemy.  It has no army.  It has no back-up.  It has no validation except what we give it.  And, if we allow ourselves to count what failure brings to the table, fear has got it made.  That has to make you question failure.

Failure is just a beginning of some new endeavor.  Unless fear is in charge.  Fear tells you there is no point in trying again.  Fear shouts you will always fail.  The magic is in the effort we put forth after fear has said we can’t do it.  Fear bristles at bravery.  Fear doesn’t stand a chance against faith.  Believe first in your purpose to be here, and then take baby steps toward accomplishing what you want to bring into the world.  Every soul is an amazing contribution to the glory of our time.  There are those who rise to the challenge and those who live shallow, forgotten lives. Or worse yet, those who live only to numb the pain of not knowing why they are here.  To deny that we are here to make our mark, is like growing up only to die.  It’s like making our whole life as meaningful as a mayfly.  Begin your journey again at every dead-end.  The journey is your mark.

Fear is something to acknowledge and then to push aside, if only for the moment.  However, the glory that could be revealed in that moment is worth every cell in our body. What you bring forth could possibly change the course of the whole life of another person, or even, the world in your realm.  That end is not your concern, but your efforts are towards the pursuit of progress in the world of creation.  Creation is so far beyond your simple life, but it needs your input as a whole.  Nothing goes to waste.
