This is a homework assignment that really tested my understanding of both light and color and their effects on shadows and near objects, and on the use of acrylic paint as a medium.

I really need more experience painting with acrylics! Every time I tried to correct flaws caused by trying to paint over insufficiently dried paint, I created more problems! The shadows became sticky messes that I simply could not fix within the timeframe I had to work before my next class meeting. It is my hope that the teacher will be able to observe I really did try to fulfill her guidelines.

The assignment was to create a painting using objects with imaginary colors so we could demonstrate how color and shadow are influenced when objects are in close proximity. I found the project very helpful, though I was really disappointed with my lack of understanding and control of my medium. I should try this assignment in oils.
