Shared Seas

The following two paintings have been chosen to be shown at the Monterey Peninsula College Art Gallery and Radius Gallery in Santa Cruz (respectively) in April for the International Art Exchange exhibition, “Shared Seas.” Art students and faculty from two coastal towns once booming with their fishing industries (Monterey , CA and Olafsfjodur, Iceland) joined in a cultural and artistic endeavor to explore the impact of their unique history through art. It is the first time any piece I have done will be hung in a real gallery. I’m honored that both my paintings were selected to be shown in the joint exhibition.

There are things I really like about them and things I definitely wish I had done differently, but I’m thrilled they will be making their debut in the art world. I love listening in on the discussion of attendees at art shows. It really lets you know what kind of impact the art is having on the viewer. I overworked both paintings and the wear (and mishaps) are obvious to the discerning eye.
